Wang Mengsha:

The Undivided Field

The Undivided Field — a recumbent wandering through Wang Mengsha's boundless realm, traversing the free and unbounded terrain steeped in ink wash.
Ferris Gallery is delighted to present The Undivided Field, a solo exhibition by artist Wang Mengsha. As Wang Mengsha's first solo exhibition in Shenzhen, the show brings together new works created this year alongside select highlights from the past five years — including a wholly new series making its public debut for the first time. Wang Mengsha paints in ink wash, approaching image and spirit with an open and clarified mind, yet she is never confined by the medium itself. She does not paint through technique: color and line both yield to the heart, the trace of ink following the pulse of the mind, giving form to an inner spirit. Wang Mengsha is celebrated for her xieyi sensibility — every form in her paintings is a natural outpouring. Folk objects, worldly things, and figures of flesh and blood are suspended in space, composing a structure that remains beautifully open and unclosed. Wherever the viewer's gaze begins, wherever it drifts and lingers across the composition, the experience is one of unhurried freedom — a visual loosening, a journey of quiet exhilaration.
This exhibition reveals the artist's luminous, vital, bold, tender, and untamed inner spirit, and extends an invitation to all: step into the painting, and embark upon a journey of the unbound mind.
Come, wander freely and without restraint. Wang Mengsha's solo exhibition The Undivided Field opens on May 10th and runs through June 30th.
